Environmentally Friendly Farmers Market

One might say that a more traditional form of green business is a farmers market. A non-profit organization, eatlocal.org located in Vancouver, BC, Canada offers vendors a medium to sell their organic fruits & vegetables, free-range chickens and a vast array of other amazing eco-friendly products. The market offers space for vendors in the following categories; farm, prepared food, and crafts. They also designate space for service providers, from on-site coffee vendors and bike repair to massage therapy. Many farmers markets, such as those put on eatlocal.org, support eco-friendly vendors. Do some research to find a farmers market in your area so you can support a local small green business owner.

  1. Although I don’t often do my shopping there, the farmer’s market on the main street in my small town in a rural area in South Korea adds a great deal of character to the area.

I’m not sure exactly how environmentally friendly the agricultural methods are in this country, but it’s sure nice to be able to buy local vegetables at my local farmer’s market.

    Cheers

  4. We have the ability and the need to create green jobs. What’s is missing is a definition of what these jobs will look like. A good example to follow is the Slow Food movement. These jobs are rooted in fundamentals. These same fundamentals can be applied to jobs in green industries.

America needs to start manufacturing again – items and technologies that can be applied locally, that will help our way of life. Why don’t we start addressing – Energy, Food, Transportation and Shelter.

We are the one’s we have been waiting for…
